I hope you have all enjoyed the summer break whatever you have been doing. Unfortunately it is now that time of year that the dreaded "F" word must be mentioned…….Fitness!!

We had a successful first year last season and we all enjoyed celebrating the promotion of the Mens 1s and the Ladies BUCS 2s as well as big victories over rival clubs and unis. This year we really want to push on so we can have a bigger and better party next April!

Our key aim is to get both the Mens and Ladies 1s promoted and also to right the wrongs of last year by returning the Mens 2s to Surrey Div 3. In order for us to do this whilst also enjoying ourselves it is important we all bring our "A" game this season and this relies on putting in some hard work before the season kicks off.

The following fitness programme is to act as a guide about for your pre-season fitness work so that you give yourself the best chance to perform well from the start of the season. It is just a guide so feel free to amend it to ensure you are getting the most out of your sessions. We have not been able to secure a venue at SSP for fitness work so there will not be any formal training sessions prior to the 6th September, however, it has been suggested that those that would like to do the fitness work together could meet up at Natwest Field / Stoke Park (or somewhere similar) and run the shuttle sessions on Tuesday Evenings and Recovery Sessions on Thursday Evenings for example. Watch out for for updates on this!

We are posting some helpful tips on the website to assist you with your fitness work. If you have any questions about pre-season fitness work please ask us and we will see if we can help you. It’s always important to get off to a good start in the league so lets put the work in now so we can have another enjoyable season!

Helpful Pre-Season Tips - Keep Hydrated, Keep Performing!

Your water bottle is just as important as your running shoes when your fitness sessions get underway!! Proper hydration is important during exercise and adequate fluid intake is essential to comfort, performance and safety. The longer and more intensely you exercise, the more important it is to drink the right kind of fluids.

This tip aims to help you keep hydrated correctly so you get the maximum benefit from your pre-season exercise.
