Well the festive period is now over and 2016 is well underway. While everyone was enjoying the winter break and putting the feet up we have been working hard putting plans together for even more hockey opportunities for everyone.
Club Sessions and Matches
People can join the club at any time during the season. Once again we are offering mid-season memberships for people joining in January. Signing up to the club membership gives you access to all our normal coaching sessions and also enable you to take part in competitive matches on Saturdays. Simply signup online from our Join Us page and come along to the next training session. Ladies Thursdays 7-8:30pm. Mens Thursdays 8:30-10pm.
Our junior hockey sessions are back from the 17th January 2016. Once again the sessions will be run on a pay and play basis so there are no expensive memberships to worry about. Simply grab some shinpads and a gumshield and come along to Surrey Sports Park from 12:00 to 13:00 on Sundays. We provide the sticks and the coaches on hand will help everyone get straight into playing hockey in a social and relaxed atmosphere. No experience needed as we can teach you all you need to know. Suitable for ages 6 and up.
A new addition to our hockey offering is Social Sundays. These sessions provide an opportunity for adults to get involved in playing hockey without the usual commitment of our standard club membership. The sessions are on a Pay and Play basis so there are no expensive memberships to worry about. Its a great opportunity to keep active and socialise. The sessions run from 12:00 o 13:00 on Sundays and start on the 17th January. No equipment or experience is needed and help will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
Thanks to support from Guildford Borough Council we are please to say that the sessions on the 17th and 24th January are completely FREE so why not come and have a go.
Need to keep the kids occupied while you play? These sessions run concurrently with our junior sessions (see above) so drop the kids off with the coaches and let them keep them entertained.
Surrey Youth Games & Surrey School Games
We are pleased to be supporting Guildford Borough this year with both the Surrey School Games and the Surrey Youth Games. These events will give year 5 & 6 boys and girls the chance to play some light hearted but competitive hockey either on behalf of their school or the borough. No experience is needed as these are aimed at those starting out in hockey. The final details for both events are still to be announced. As soon as they are confirmed we will let you know.

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the clubhouse,
Not a creature was stirring, not even Cheese, Crackers or a mouse;
The club members were nestled all snug in their beds;
While visions of new gear danced in their heads.
They had been so well behaved, for the first half a season;
A handful of cards and hardly any with good reason,
There has been many a goal, some scoring by the skin of their nose;
Up through the top scorer leaderboard they rose;
Men’s 1s have scored 50 by themselves,
Mid season sees top of the board Alistair Kemp with twelve.
Tara Hall was the first of the season to score a hat trick;
Brad Purcell got the first for the men, but he wasn’t so quick.
With many a great goal, came many a great save;
Some just touching their pads in a very close shave;
Tom Conley out with an injured shoulder;
Lauren Burnard has the most clean sheets and is getting a lot bolder.
Ladies 1s sit 2nd in Division 4
A couple of losses so far but looking strong and looking forward to winning a lot more.
Ladies 2s sit 8th in Division 10
After promotion last year and no captain to start the season, the Ladies 2s have started to make their comeback again.
Mens 1s sit 9th in Division 1
Challenging start to the season but hoping 2016 can see them get on to a winning run.
Mens 2s sit 10th in Division 3
Can they avoid the drop after Christmas? We will have to wait and see.
Mens 3s sit 8th in SOHL Division 3
With a few more wins, mid table they will be.
Men’s 1s and 3s have games on 9th Jan. Training is back on 14th Jan for everyone and all teams back in action from the 16th Jan.
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
